Widener Park (formerly Baker Farm)

Please Note: This course was recently renamed to Widener Park!

Widener Park, formerly known as Baker Farm, is located southwest of Rochester N.Y. in the Town of Chili. It is a beautiful links style course built on an old farm. Its features include several elevated tees and greens, flower gardens, a creek and interesting obstacles such as a silo, an old windmill and woodchip piles that act as “inverted bunkers”. It has 18 holes with a double loop design. Signature holes include hole #11 measuring 911 feet and the 716 foot long hole #18 with the basket located on a tricky elevated knoll. The course is friendly to players of all skill levels, with 3 sets of tees on each hole.

Course History
The course was built in 1995. After knocking on many doors, Dave Thomas contacted Chili Recreation Director Ron Fodge, who recommended a piece of Town property, once an old farm owned by the Baker family, as an appropriate site. The course was designed by Royce Racinowski, and soon fairways were cut out of the fields. To enhance the relatively open course, elevated tees and pins were constructed, along with many interesting obstacles. Many trees were planted, an activity that continues to this day. The course has been lovingly enhanced and beautified over the years by countless hours of labor by Ron Fodge, Kathy Freitas and members of the Chili Disc Golf Club. The course was the site of the finals of the 1999 Pro Disc Golf World Championships. The course can be seen on the 1999 PDGA Pro World’s Video.
