Our 1st 2011 Worlds Sponsor

About the 2011 PDGA Amateur World Championships!

Our 1st 2011 Worlds Sponsor

Postby Tony Inzana » Sat Sep 1, 2007 9:57 pm

Well, Day 1 of the course reviews with John Houk from the PDGA went very well. Almost 10 hours were spent at Churchville, Basil and Parma. Much was accomplished today, with more to come tomorrow. The good news is that John Houk, owner of Millenium Discs, offered us our 1st sponsorship for the 2011 Am Worlds of $1000. This is obviously great news for us as our hosting of the Am Worlds was based on this course review. So figure it out--1st Sponsor already --by the course designer of the PDGA. :D :D

2011 Worlds - here we come---more updates to follow.

Out of curiosity...Anything "major" that he said pertaining to Churchville, Basil and Parma (or any of the courses)

Too much info to put on this thread---there will be a formal written report generated by John Houk. Churchville had a few spots thta should be changed, but very fair changes and will make the course so much nicer. Parma had a few modifications---and believe it or not----a couple holes to be lengthened, getting them into the par 4 range on the back---but again--most of this are suggestions, not mandatory---Basil is a different story------much to do there------Ellison---all good escept a couple minor changes - Hole 4 was the big one and 18 -----MCC--------a few different things to think about----but 1 major thing that has already been modified--Tee 7----to eliminate the chance of throwing a drive onto the highway. Brockport was not looked at----probably not needed considering we have 7 already ( Genesee Valley Park and Chili make 6 and 7) No need to review Chili---already established - So thats the summary for now

Tony,I received your voice mail and felt that it was too late ot call you. I will do so tomorrow.
I have e-mailed Craig Rand and Mike Kelly about the Hole #7 change and am sure that they wil concur. I would like to meet up with you to see the change and then relay it to them! Thx,Dave

genesee valley was the very first permanent course in rochester. It was 18 holes with a 4 foot metal pole surrounded by chicken wire at ground level. After our current baskets were developed, ellison was put in and GVP was no longer. The course was a temp course used at the 99' worlds as part nastalgia and the need for anther course for the worlds. For the AM worlds, It will again be used for nastalgia and as a established technical course.

Again over the next 4 years, even if one of our courses isn't included in worlds, I want them to be in the best condition possible. That means our club working as a whole to make this happen.

Tony I know we discussed what sponsorship levels would look like for 2011 but you can see what Kansas City has in mind http://kcworlds.com/?page_id=27
