Have one of you have tried to grow the disc golf course on the RIT campus?

I am pretty sure that there is NOT a course at RIT.

I have thrown discs at the basket that they have in the red barn, but I do work at RIT and I am sure that I would have heard of a course by now.

Hey Justin and GRDGC gang!!!

Check out the scorecard/course map that I created for the 40th RIT/NTID Reunion way back in June 2008.

Temp 9-hole at RIT

Big thanks to GRDGC for loaning 9 wooden baskets. This is a good and fun course for family/newbies and some of the alumnus were hooked on playing this course couple times for half of the day until their wives/kids had to pull them away. Many were asking where can they find discs or find courses at their home states. Told them to check out DGCR for it.

Back to the point about having course on RIT campus, I (and others) have approached RIT Athletic Department back in 2002 to propose 9 or 18 holes on the back side of RIT campus (former ROTC training course). They liked the idea but cannot make the final decision but suggested to talk to the RIT administration.

RIT replied with a firm "no".

Years later, I can see why RIT said no because they are building another damn brick buildings...

So, for the history book, yes, RIT did "had" a DG course on campus for a day.
Tee Off and Pay ATTENTION!!

The post was to see if anyone had tried to make one, as answered though. One of our buddy's is trying to propose building the course again. I think it would be a great idea there's still a lot of space that could be utilized.

Josh,

The issue is not that there isn't enough land to play on, its just that RIT was built on what is now protected wetlands. The best that my friends and I could do was to create the first CAB supported RIT Disc Golf Club at RIT back before we graduated in 2011. The only approval we got for any type of course was for a temporary basket course for a one day tournament that we never actually followed through with (senior design and graduating kinda got in the way). I would love to see the RIT club come back and hold s tournament on campus. Impretty sure I made a course map at one point. Maybe GRDGC could help support it.
