Gates Town Park Course

Postby dhoock » Mon Mar 18, 2013 10:12 am

9 hole course at Gates Town Park will be ready to play by the end of Spring!

As soon as the weather breaks, I will be getting out to the park to get the course ready for basket install this spring. I am shooting for late April as the date we get the baskets in the ground. Right now, the weekend of April 27/28 is the date I am looking at. Anyone interested in coming out, especially if you have some experience putting the baskets in, is more that welcome!

That park is like 5 min from my house. I would stop by and help but it's the same day as the Basil Neighborhood/Gonzo tournament. Maybe Sunday the 28th I'll have time if you don't finish it Saturday.

Is there a map or any documentation on what the course will look/play like?

So April 28th will be the official workday/install day. 12:00pm. I will also be out there on the afternoon of the 27th to do some prep work.

Can someone please give me a list of tools that are essential to get baskets in the ground?

Maps and hole info and more info (a course name) should be out soon!

Need a post hole digger for sure.
Concrete obviously.
A way to get water to each one (bucket).
A level--you can sort of tell when the basket is level because the O-ring the bottom of the chains are attached to won't touch the pole-- but use a level if you're OCD.
Shovel to replace dirt you dug out of the hole, or to spread it out if you don't re-use it.
Wheelbarrel or lawn cart to carry bags of concrete might be handy.

Don't forget locks.

I just bought a house in Gates. (closing end of may) Guess this will be closest course to home. I'm always working on weekends, but if I manage some time off that day I'll come help.

I will be out there tomorrow to help. I have no tools though. Also depends on how much I fight my alarm clock.

First off, thanks to those that came out and helped on sunday! we were able to get the nine holes dug and posts in and concreted in no time. My plan is to assemble and have the baskets in tomorrow (Wednesday). I will be heading out from 9am-12:30pm to get the job done. If anyone is free for any of that time, feel free to come out and help me.

So, to answer the question, I hope by tomorrow afternoon the course is playable. I'll also be marking the tee boxes, as right now that is next up on my to-do list. Signs are on the way too. If you get out there and play, please gimme some feedback, as my goal is to make the course the best it could possibly be.
