Any idea when they are going to pull the baskets at Ellison this year?

Usually around election day give or take a 4%, er, day margin of error. They basically do it when they want, unbeknownst to the club. If you really need to know, you call the park. - 304

They usually pull the baskets anytime I decide to play there. Going by this theory, they will be gone by tuesday.

Somebody will post when they get pulled - if there aren't any posts here, assume the baskets are still in

Considering that it is a holiday week and more than likely they do not work on Friday and snow is in the forecast for Saturday I can see why they took them out this week.

that's brutal, you'd figure a holiday week/weekend they would keep them up with people in town. Well on a side note, my buddy Moose hit a 150 footer on our last hole to tie the great Bobby Jones on Sunday. Quite a way to watch Ellison get finished for the year

Only basket that really needs to be removed is7
. That is the "DESIGNATED" sledding hill. Most kids that get hurt are going down 12 and hitting trees or on the jumps they build.

Are the baskets back in for the 2013 season yet? Chili is in pretty good shape but it's a long drive.

Monroe Co.Parks tries to shoot for an April 1st installation date on all its DG courses......However,it is always weather dependent and judging by March's weather,it may be awhile...........v

Sad part is Ellison wont be complete this year unless hole #5's basket is replaced. As most of you know it was damaged last fall by that fallen tree and then the pole was damaged even further during the removal of the tree. I can't see the park dept having the ways or means to possibly repair it. Would be a shame to see a course with so much history and one of the first courses in the history of this sport to be knocked down to a 17 hole course.

Due to "act of god", does Ellison park have liability insurance? If they do, then I am sure the insurance will be happy to replace it.

Let's do a quick little $10-15 tourney at Ellison with a trophy prize and get a new basket for them.

Haven't seen the #5 basket but I am sure that there will be a way to replace it. Contrary to your beliefs, "vanza", the GRDGC, who is always extremely generous, doesn't have unlimited funds to just throw out $400 for a new basket. Maybe a fundraiser at Ellison would be good, or, here's an idea..... we could recoup some of the club's investments from Churchville. The club invested $900 in the inner chains for the baskets out there. I am sure we could remove them and find a club that would purchase them for at least $25 each which would give us the money for the basket. Churchville did fine before the Worlds with the baskets and the old design, right?

Man that's a sad sight. Just throwing it out there... as long as we're fundraising for a new basket, isn't it time ALL of the baskets at Ellison were replaced? Now that Ellison finally has legitimate tee pads, some nice new baskets would make it a real nice course.

Walker, there is no way that the club is going to raise $8000 for new baskets.... We would use that money to promote tournaments and in many other ways. This is a county park and we have no say in the park. They pull the baskets half the year, otherwise they maintain the park as they would even if there wasn't a disc golf course. Maybe a motion should be started to get Monroe County to invest $8000 in new baskets, to benefit their parks.... and then take the old baskets and put them in a different county park

That basket is possibly fixable, but it needs to come out which the park will probably have a fit about.
I'd guess that the welds on the outer ring would need to be cut and then bend everything back using a oxy-acetylene torch on the bends, then reweld it. In the process the galvanization will be damaged and we'll have a nice rusty basket in 4 months.

Hard to see what is going on in the photos, but like Tim and colin said it seems fixable. I'd be willing to offer my assistance, I have or have access to tools to repair that. I could possible arrange having it galvanized again, but at a cost. Then there always Rustoleum
