The Victor Apple farm Disc Golf Fundraiser

Course conditions, opinions and observations

The Victor Apple farm Disc Golf Fundraiser

Postby absolut watkins » Thu Aug 23, 2012 3:18 pm

I saw a flyer at chili today stating there is a nine hole fundraiser at the victor apple farm on 9/16 with the funds going to a permanant course there. And when i checked it out online it said

"With the course being designed by a highly experienced and passionate Disc Golf advocate and Hall of Famer it will assuredly be an exciting course you will likely not forget".

I was just wondering who is the designer, if anyone else heard more about this, and if it was worth checking out.

The only thing I've heard about it is that John Houck went and checked out the land http://www.houckdesign.com/

I have no idea if this is true, but he's originally from Buffalo and has helped with pretty much everything in our area, so I wouldn't be surprised one bit.

I'll try to be at the event.

From what I know, Doug Corea and (I believe) Jim Palmiri were the first to go have a look at the land. Doug Blighton has also been out there to see it.

Thanks for replying... this came out of nowhere...at least for me it did. You guys are definitely keeping things under your hats.... I will have to change my schedule around to make sure I can attend this just to see what could be another potential east side course.

I can confirm the information for The Apple Farm.

I am pleased to announce that a new venue will be developed at The Apple Farm in Victor, NY. The goal is to install the first 18-hole course by the end of the fall season. The second course, a Pro level adventure, will be installed this coming spring. An additional 9-hole pitch and putt course is planned as well. We are pleased to have Royce Racinowski assisting in the development.

The Apple Farm already has a Deli and a Natural food store on the site. A DG Pro Shop is planned as well.

On September 15 and 16 The Apple Farm is holding their annual Fall Festival and a 9-Hole DG tournament is planned for the 16th. Sign in from 9 - 9:30 AM and tee time at 10:00. There will be a $10 charge and a free disc is planned. Closest to the Pin contest and a putting contest. Prizes will be available and donations are welcomed.

We are looking for hole sponsors, bench sponsors and any donations to get these courses completed.

We appreciate your interest and hope you are as psyched as we are!!

Any questions - fire me off an e-mail or give me a call.

Dan Rice

Yes, I believe the tournament is just one round.

As for the hole sponsorship, tentatively it is $400. Which is a tremendous deal because it will get you four (4), yes, four lifetime memberships to a disc golf country club! As for the bench sponsorship ($ ?) and others, talk to Dan Rice. This is a pay for play venue which I believe will be $5 for an all day pass.

Planned are two championship 18 hole courses, the Spartan (should be about a par 60) this fall and the more wooded Empire next spring. A driving range ( with targets at 150,250,350, and 450 feet) and around 9 putting courses, not to mention a short pitch and putt course (most likely 9 holes and all under 200 feet) are to be added to the complex (at future dates).

The Dog (Doug Blighton), Ryan Hand, Bob Honch and myself will sponsor hole 18, ( off the" top of the farm", highest point on the course) which should have 3 pin placements!

You should all come out Sunday and see the beautiful, rolling hills and magnificant vistas that will soon be a great Disc Golf destination! You can't believe how pumped up Royce and I are about this!

Disc-gracefully yours,
Doug Corea PDGA #304

After talking to a Physical Education teacher , Friday @ Pittsford Mendon H.S., which FYI has had Disc Golf for over 10 years (TTYT),( 9 Ching baskets and 40 -150g class putters).

He has Beech and Silver Maple saplings that he is willing to pot and donate to THE Farm.

Royce came up with the tree-TASTIC idea of starting a nursery!! Anyone that has any unwanted trees (bushes, also) they would be greatly appreciated. Please no Hawthorn trees or picker bushes.

Thank you for helping in the development of the first , as far as I know, DISC GOLF COUNTRY CLUB !!

I'll be there early Sunday, hopefully w/THE DOG.

Thank you all in advance,
Disc-gracefully yours,
Doug Corea PDGA #304 :D

You said it! What a great time yesterday. Can't wait to play the final setup, over and over and over again.

Me, MikeD, Dr.Killmore, and A^2 are already signed up to sponsor hole 6. Any one who's on the fence think of it this way: If you bought in at 100 buck and only ever played league events there (yeah right!) you'd make your money back in 4-5 seasons. If you got out for a few non-league rounds you'd be flush even sooner. If you're like me and plan to live in a tree on the property all summer... well you get the idea. Great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of what promises to be an amazing addition to our local course arsenal.

Hello folks,

First and foremost I would like to thank all of you who participated in The Apple Farms little Fall Festival tournament. It was a blast and 53 people entered - quite unsuspectedly. Certain persons deserve a special thanks for contributions and donations - you know who you are and I'm certain I thanked you all personally.

For some news going forward. At this point we have nearly sold all of the Hole Sponships! There might be one hole left, possibly two if someone doesn't come through. If you are still interested call me right away or email me. We are planning to order the baskets within the next two weeks. We have a lot of work ahead of us this fall. We are going to make every effort to get the first course in before Ole Man WInter hits us.

I'll keep you all posted.
