A playoff was required at MCC Black. Ryan Hand won 4 to 3 over Tim Bayer.
Long story (for those interested):
#2; I splash a disc, OB. Ryan stays dry. His 4 takes the hole. 1-0
#4; Ryan’s backhand catches a tree early, bounces hard left into the woods. My drive lands behind the yellow basket. My 3 evens the score. 1-1
#5, #6 push
#7; Ryan had tree trouble, hitting 3 trees on the trek to the basket. I missed the trees for a 3. I’m up 2-1.
#9; Birdie by Ryan for his second point; 2-2
#10; Both drives tangle with trees and bushes. Ryan’s up shot is better than mine, his 3 is good for a point. Ryan is up 3-2.
Push on all holes #11, #12, #13, #14.
#15; I throw a birdie providing an opportunity to even the score. Nope. Ryan cans a 17-foot putt for a 2 to push the hole and stay ahead, 3-2.
On #16, Ryan hit trees twice. My drive finds the fairway, and my second shot stops at the base of the basket for a drop in-3. Tied up, 3-3.
#17; My drive lands in the pine trees. Ryan’s drive also goes in the pine trees. Both shots from the pines land OB in the swamp. Ryan is left of the bridge 30 feet out, I am right of the bridge, 35 feet out. Ryan’s putt just misses. It bounces off the basket and out. My backhand anhyser over the bridge hits the black belt on top of the basket and out. A push, still tied headed to 18.
#18; Tree whacking was all the rage for this hole. Both hit trees, both worked out of trouble, both took 5’s, forcing a playoff.
#1 My forehand turns over a little too much and goes into the woods. Ryan throws a backhand over the water landing nicely in front of yellow basket.
My roller out of the woods stops near Ryan’s disc.
We both shoot into the woods, both hit trees. My next shot lands 12 feet out. Ryan throws a perfect upshot, for a drop-in 4 to close out the match, 4-3. It was a fun round in spite of the fact it was at MCC.
