Its got some great symetry pat and I didn't want to use that alone. It is the logo for rochester. If my photoshop was working I would try and show you what I'm thinking but that shape has a lot of potential to do a one off.

I think I see what you're talking about...

Something like different designs or photos that fills the voids of the logo, right?

Otherwise, we could play around with those logo.

yep, tons of different ways to twist it into something that works for us but still has a strong tie to Rochester.

just to throw out an idea... rochester is known for jazz fest. How about a silhouette of someone playing a trumpet or sax, with music notes coming out that 'morph' into letters spelling rochester, or GRDGC, etc.

Very nice I like all these ideas. Rochester is also known for having really nasty water in the Genesee River ... not sure how we can incorporate that, haha.

I have been using Gimp in place of Photoshop lately. It is free and has all the tools I ever use with Photoshop. It isn't as pretty as Adobe's but you can't beat the price :)

You can also try paint.NET. It was created at MIT for a class I think and they decided to make it freeware. It works great!

I've got the CS3 suite package with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Some designer friends of mine gave me a few ideas here:

Wineries
Finger Lakes
Festivals (we have so many around here!)
Public Market
Jazz Festival
Letchworth State Park
Ontario Lake and Lighthouse
Carousel Rides
Beautiful Leaves and Deer
Highland Park.... etc etc

I'll come up with a new design tomorrow.

You just can't beat the photoshop package. My CS3 has been acting screwy. Can you vector masking in Gimp, I've tried pain.net its nice but not anywhere as capable as CS3 or any photosuite

Uh...Letchworth State Park...is NOT part of Rochester at all but an hour south of Rochy. I'll leave that park out of the picture.

Perhaps, best to include 6 or 8 courses into the designs??

Lol you pick out letchworth but don't mention wineries of the fingerlakes? We kind of got into the same kind of discussion at the worlds meeting last monday. I had suggested talking to corning glass to see if they could make some crazy glass trophy's, a couple people made that same arguement about it not being part of Rochester. When will corning or whatever region letchworth is in ever host the worlds though?

Gator - I am in full agreement...right now we have nobody to do the trophies and it would seem better to solicit many groups/individuals and see what they have to offer and at what price. We could then present the entries in front of the Worlds committee and choose then. It shouldn't matter where they are made. If they are local then even better but we shouldn't rule anybody out at this point.

I've been busy today playing at Ellison and checking out Chili and the new teepads there. I wanted to get to know more about Chili and got some great ideas for stamps. I will be doing them tomorrow.

Well we can see what kind of trophy Kansas City has when Dan bring his home (knock on wood, fingers crossed).

I talked to Doug Blighton at Chili he's gonna dig up ALL the 99 worlds discs for me to take pictures and hopefully post up here, in the hopes that we can do a retro/throwback disc.

I have the tee shirt ( and also a commemorative disc) with the Innova Full Color design that was used for the 1999 Worlds if you want to see it! We also had a full set of commemorative pins ( I believe there were at least 6) I gave this set to Jim Owens from Auburn.....I am sure that he'd be glad to show them to you for any ideas..........Dave

Interesting seasonal concept.

Curious are we hosting only AM Worlds or does it also includes Junior Worlds also?

We could do full color picture desgins. Perhaps grab some pictures and then manipulate the pictures into something cool.

I like the seasons stamp! But you might try replacing the summer tree with a dump truck...

I was gonna try to redesign some of the tee maps for a favorite course at each park and use that as one idea for a stamp and so on.... so can you guys tell me which holes are the "favorites" or "signatures" at each park?

so far I've been able to recognize 5 parks out of the 8 parks as the most played courses for GRDGC:

Basil
MCC
Ellison
Parma
Chili @ Baker Farm

I will be focusing on those parks more than the others and for another idea I will try to adapt these parks into each of the petals of the Rochester "Flower/Flour City" logo. The logo will be revamped in a way so the parks will be visible and the logo still recognizable.

If anyone has any good photos of the parks and the favorite holes listed above, please post them or have them uploaded to photobucket so I can do some work. Thanks!!

I have been taking pictures at all of our courses but not really for the purposes of getting that "signature" hole picture. If people want to offer up their suggestions then I will head out there and try to capture it. Just need to know the course, hole # and angle view you think captures it best.

Choose any hole you want.......there are multiple angles at all holes from which to take a pic......I used # 7 for the commemorative disc I gave out at the Grand Opening when the basket was in the original position.Feel free.........dt

I have brought it up before about signature holes in other thread (Clock designs). Here is it below:

DeafDiscGolfer wrote:Yeah, you could photography the signature holes and adjust the photo size to fit in or whatever.

Let's start off by voting on which 12 best signature holes in Rochester area.

#1 - Chili

#2 - Parma (across the water)

#3 -

#4 - MCC (across the water)

#5 - Parma (longest hole)

#6 -

#7 - Ellison (of course)

#8 - Chili (wish that small windmill still there...) or Basil (longest hole)

#9 -

#10 - MCC ?

#11 - Chili (longest hole)

#12 - Basil or Ellison (a mini version of hole #7)

Its only ideas, any takers?
