On Saturday August 25th, 2012, cement tee pads were installed on all 18 holes for the gold course.
The 38th Annual RFDO will be taking place on August 11th and 12th, 2012! This will be the BIGGEST WEEKEND tournament ever held here in Rochester.
We have worked very closely with the PDGA to get our tournament strategically placed in order to attract the top Touring Pros!!! Our Supertour/ A-tier event is in between 2 NT events, the Brent Hambrick and the Vibram Open. I have little doubt that we will sell out both AM and the Pro pools at 72 each. This is going to be a great event, following this town putting on an incredible Am Worlds!!!
May 12, 2012: From the Democrat & Chronicle - Disc golf is worth a shot. Thanks Caurie!
This year we are offering 2 different GRDGC Membership options. For $25 you get a dry fit tee + bag tag + towel... OR, for $30 you can get a dry fit collared polo + bag tag + towel.
Becoming a GRDGC member helps the club promote and improve the sports of disc golf locally!
As many of you already know, Dave had to leave Doubles League on Tuesday night (5/29) in an ambulance. He slipped on the tee pad of hole 5 and hurt his leg... we don't know the extent of the damage to his leg, but it did not look good.
Dave does not currently have insurance through his job, so this is going to be a hardship for him financially, and he needs our help!
We will help Dave by having two fundraiser tournaments - both at basil. Doubles on Saturday June 9th, and Singles on Sunday June 10th. Players meeting at 9:30 AM both days. We will do a CTP on every hole: Mike Drees is currently accepting any donations to help with that.

Thank you to all 41 disc golfers that made it out to MCC this Saturday for the Annual Rochester Ice Bowl. We raised $700 and about 250lbs of food! This will all go to Food Link. I also wanted to thank Physician Sales and Service for their donation.
Thanks to everyone for showing up for the doubles fundraiser event at Parma. It was a beautiful day, and we all did something great for some kids in need. 34 people showed up and together we got a truckload of presents and a grand total of $2,180 to donate to St. Joseph's Villa!
*Special Thanks to our sponsors: Nick Day, Larry Day, Heather Day, Cat Fallia, Tony Inzana and the GRDGC... and another special thanks to John Alloco for helping put together this great event. Hope to see you next year! -Mike D
This year the GRDGC Championships will be held at MCC on Saturday, November 12th, starting at 9am.
This will be a 2 round event with lunch in between. It is free for all current GRDGC Members (bring your bag tags). There will be multiple CTP's and this year we're introducing a special something for the winner!
We met with the manager at the Tap Room/Bill Grays at ESL today and are working out the food details. There is no hockey tournament that weekend so they are going to reserve the whole back section of the Tap Room for us.
All money from club memberships goes towards course improvements and small percentage towards this event. If you felt that it is too late and doesn't make sense to join, please reconsider. This is how we fund tee pads/signs/extra basket locations/ect...Your membership is truly making our courses better. Club Memberships are $25. This year we teamed up with Paragon Disc Golf to offer a nice membership package including a custom dry fit shirt, microfiber towel, and bag tag! (add $2 for 2XL, $3 for 3XL)
Thank you to everyone who made the
2011 PDGA Amateur & Junior World Championships a great success!

I also want to thank everyone who played, especially those who made a long trip. 79 Players was a good turnout and I hope that everyone enjoyed themselves. Hope you enjoyed the courses...despite the extra long grass. I will be back again running the 38th Annual RFDO so stayed tuned. -Ryan Hand

Thanks to everyone who made it out and supported the cause!
Thanks to the hard work of numerous GRDGC members, the tee pads at Parma are done! Thanks to all that helped make this happen. The course has also been tweaked a little, with some new hole additions. Hope everyone enjoys!
Remember that it is a requirement as a club member to participate in work days to be eligible for the year end club finals as well as the year end doubles final.
We really hope to see you all out there. This is really important for our club in preparation for 2011 AM Worlds! We all need to come together to make this happen.
Widener Park disc golf course now has cement tee pads! A huge thanks to the numerous people that came out both Friday and Saturday and helped make this project a success. Click the image for the rest of the pictures!
We worked about 5 hours Friday night, putting the forms together, digging the tee boxes out, back filling around the forms, and some much needed bush trimming. Saturday morning, a couple early-birds were at the course around 6am starting right back into back filling around the forms. Around 7am the first cement truck pulled in, and by just a little after 11am the final tee box was finished. After some lunch provided by the GRDGC, we worked for another couple hours moving some of the remaining dirt. Also, a thanks to Pat Harris for taking pictures of both the work days.
The minutes from our Club Meetings and 2011 Am Worlds Meetings will now be posted on this site! The club meeting minutes page, and the worlds meeting minutes page have been separated into two pages, both of which can now be found under "News" in the navigation bar.
We had a total of 35 participants. Alan Koons and Ryan Hand won the Open division, while Tim Johnson and Joe McGlinchy won the AM division. Tony Inzana and John Alloco won most charitable (something new we did this year) for most donation of money/merchandise.
There was great generosity in the form of mulligans: $472 to be exact! In total we collected $700 for the Parma Food Bank.
Please note that we still have a moderate amount of Ice Bowl discs leftover. We would really love to donate more money to our charity so let us (or Ryan Hand) know if you're still interested in any Ice Bowl discs, you can also checkout this page of the forum to see what discs are still available. Also, thanks to Gene & Pat for the pictures (click image above to view).
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Greater Rochester Disc Golf Club's Annual Charity Ice Bowl at Parma Disc Golf Course. For the fourth consecutive year we raised over $1000 for the host course's town Food Bank.
This year the grand total collected for the Parma Food Bank was $1145, and an additional 350lbs of food were generously donated by the 51 disc golfers that braved the cold temperatures for charity. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication to local grassroots efforts here in Rochester!
Our club is always welcoming new members. The base membership is $20, and includes a 2009 GRDGC Bag Tag for our annual Bag Tag Challenge. The Bag Tag gives members an invitation to the year end event, which includes a catered lunch and great prizes. $30 and $50 levels of membership are available and include choices of discs and shirts. Welcome to our latest member...Wayne Morford!
In an effort to recruit more female disc golfer members to our club we are offering a discounted membership of just $10. Welcome our first two female members...Jenn Digioia and Amanda Catherwood!
Club members interested in joining the PDGA (or renewing) are eligible for a $5 discount on their dues. To join either the GRDGC or the PDGA contact Ryan Hand at 734-6397 today!
Cement tee pads are the new trend here in the Rochester area. Basil A. Marella was installed in May 2008 and we have just completed installing cement tee pads at Chili's Baker Park. Remember membership requirement is that each member participate in at least one work day. You can see who has participated based on an asterisk by names on the members list.
A big thanks to Dave Thomas for bringing the first ever Junior College Disc Golf Tournament to NYS. It was held at MCC on April 18/19 2009 and was a great success and sure to be something continued annually.
Check out our new bag tag challenge post in the forum section. Our goal is to make it easy to post/accept challenges and update your current tag number. There is a full list of rules on the top navigation bar and we look forward to kicking off the season April 1st. Soon we hope to have "the top 10" posted on the home page, which will be regularly updated.
